Ihor Surkis: “We won for all our warriors, women, Ukrainian families”

FC Dynamo Kyiv president Ihor Surkis has shared his impressions of the win against Partizan (6:2) in the Champions League 2nd qualifying round first leg.

- A very confident win in the first leg. Did you expect that?

- I expected the team to fight. You know Partizan had a trip to russia and russia kills our citizens, our children, women. That’s why this victory is very important. The most important one over the years. We’ve given joy to our supporters, those who defend our Motherland, our families. Glory to Ukraine! I’m satisfied and I’ve congratulated the guys. I want to thank fans who came to the stadium, the President of Ukraine who gives us the chance to represent our country in Europe. They supported us great in Poland. We’ll do our best to move forward through the tournament.

- Dynamo were the first to concede, but then we saw a lot of different goals. Though it was the first game of the season it was very spectacular.

- We have a broad lineup and guys understand the game model Oleksandr Shovkovskyi suggests. We conceded early in the game, but that happens in football. Players coped with that and secured the score which lets us go to Belgrade more or less calmly. Still we need to get ready for the game properly.

- Pikhalionok made his official debut for Dynamo, scored and enforced the team…

- Pikhalionok is very creative. He can do anything on the field. He can pass, he can score, he can dispossess.

I want to congratulate everyone on this victory once again. Partizan made us really mad and we won for all our warriors, women, Ukrainian families.

- Fans supported the team incredibly. Did you feel the balance between the fans and the team?

- We hadn’t been supported like this for four years. The atmosphere was fabulous.
