FC Dynamo Kyiv suffered a narrow 0:1 defeat to FC Polissya Zhytomyr in a friendly match held during the international break at the club’s training base in Vita-Lytovska.
The match served as an opportunity for both sides to maintain competitive rhythm amid the pause in official fixtures.
The opening stages were relatively quiet with both teams exchanging possession but creating few clear chances.
The first real opportunity came in the 11th minute when Polissya’s Krasnopir delivered a cross toward Rasko who failed to connect from a promising position inside the box.
Dynamo responded with attempts of their own. Around the 16th minute Vitalii Buialskii nearly capitalized on a rebound in the penalty area but goalkeeper Bushchan reacted quickly to claim the ball.
Both goalkeepers were alert throughout the half. Dynamo’s Morgun denied Krasnopir from close range and later produced another save just before halftime to keep the score level at 0:0.
At halftime Dynamo made a goalkeeping change, introducing Surkis in place of Morgun. The substitute keeper was immediately called into action, making an early save from distance.
Midway through the half Dynamo faced a setback when defender Thiare was forced off due to injury after a collision near the sideline.
Polissya capitalized soon after. In the 62nd minute following a corner kick Haiduchyk reacted quickest in the box to score the decisive goal.
Dynamo increased pressure in the closing stages, pushing forward in search of an equalizer. A dangerous low cross from Ogundana found Blănuță but his shot was blocked at the last moment. The forward also had a close-range header though it did not seriously threaten the goal.
Despite a late surge Dynamo were unable to break through and the match ended in a 1:0 victory for Polissya.
Dynamo Kyiv will return to official competition on April 4 when they host FC Karpaty Lviv in the Ukrainian Premier League. Kick-off is scheduled for 18:00.
