Dynamo Kyiv center-back Kristian Bilovar commented on the away match against LNZ Cherkasy (0:0) on Football Hub.
– LNZ are becoming an uncomfortable opponent for you as Dynamo have not been able to beat them. In your opinion what was missing today in order to score?
– It’s difficult for me to say immediately after the match what exactly was missing. We will analyze that with the coaching staff during our tactical session. Still it was quite an interesting game. We studied LNZ before the match and knew that they always defend very solidly. So the task was to find ways to break down that defense and score. Today we managed to do that at times but in the end we lacked finishing.
– Was your substitution forced?
– I felt a spasm in the back of my thigh. Tomorrow I’ll undergo medical tests and then we’ll know exactly what it is. But from my own feelings I don’t think it’s anything serious. Once I felt the spasm I was afraid of fully tearing ligaments so I asked to be substituted.
– Today center-backs controlled the ball a lot, passing it around while trying to break through the opponent’s defense. Does it frustrate you that opponents sit so deep and make it very difficult to find passes between lines?
– That’s part of football. Every team and every opponent has their own tactics. Before every game, together with the coaching staff, we analyze the opponent and build our own game plan around that. We also have our own tactical ideas so there’s nothing frustrating about it.
– After the match Andriy Yarmolenko could be heard saying “it’s embarrassing” while leaving the pitch. How would you describe this result yourself? Could Dynamo have played better today?
– It’s hard for me to judge the quality of the performance - that’s for the coaching staff to evaluate. But regarding the result I probably agree with him. There’s a contrast compared to last season when we didn’t suffer a single defeat. This season we already have many losses and draws. Because of that our position in the table leaves much to be desired, to put it mildly.
Of course, we are Dynamo Kyiv, and we are not used to this. But we have many young players who came up from the U19 team and are playing their first matches in the Premier League. So our task is to win the cup this season. And moving forward, during training camp, I think we will prepare well for next season and everything will be much better.
