On April 21 Dynamo faced Bukovyna in the semi-finals of the Ukrainian Cup 2025/2026. Due to stadium requirements the match was played at the Roman Shukhevych Stadium rather than in Chernivtsi.
Despite wartime conditions the game unfolded in a vibrant atmosphere with packed stands and constant fan support – something rarely seen in Ukrainian football during this period.
Dynamo made three defensive changes compared to their previous win over Zorya. The game began energetically with Bukovyna – leaders of the First league and already promoted to the Premier league – showing no fear against their more experienced opponents.
Both sides created early chances. Bukovyna came closest around the 20th minute when a defensive lapse allowed a one-on-one opportunity but Dynamo goalkeeper Neshcheret produced a crucial double save to keep the score level.
Dynamo scored first in the 24th minute. A quick counterattack led by Buialskii ended with a precise cross from Voloshyn which Ponomarenko tapped into an empty net to make it 1:0.
Just before halftime Dynamo doubled their lead. Buialskii again initiated the move, sending Voloshyn through on goal. The winger calmly finished into the far corner, giving the Kyiv side a 2:0 advantage heading into the break.
Bukovyna had a chance to pull one back before halftime but Neshcheret once again denied them with back-to-back saves.
After the restart Bukovyna pressed aggressively but struggled to break through Dynamo’s organized defense. The Kyiv side absorbed pressure and looked dangerous on the counterattack.
Dynamo sealed the victory in the 82nd minute. This time Voloshyn turned provider, delivering a cross for Ponomarenko, who finished decisively to make it 3:0.
Late in stoppage time Bukovyna nearly scored a consolation goal but the crossbar denied them.
With this win Dynamo advance to the final where they will face the winner of the other semi-final between Metalist 1925 and FC Chernihiv. The final is scheduled for May 20, 2026, at the Arena Lviv stadium.
