UCL. Hamrun Spartans – Dynamo – 0:3: Post-match press conference by Oleksandr Shovkovskyi

Post-match press conference by head coach of FC Dynamo Kyiv Oleksandr Shovkovskyi after win against Hamrun Spartans (3:0).

– First of all, congratulations to our fans on an important win in our first official match. The weather conditions were tough – even now it’s 29°C. We won 3:0, but we should have scored more. We created a lot of chances but didn’t convert enough. That’s something we need to work on.

We understood how our opponent would play. Once we saw their starting lineup, it became clear they would stick to one system and then switch – which they did already in the first half. Thanks to the players – it wasn’t easy but we took the first step. One more match still ahead.

- What can you say about Denys Popov’s disallowed goal?

– As I understood the referee ruled that Mykola Mykhailenko, while in an offside position, blocked an opponent and interfered with play – that’s why the goal was disallowed. We don’t want to comment too much on refereeing but we have questions about some decisions.

- It was great football atmosphere on the stadium. Did you like it?

– The atmosphere was great – both the home and our fans made themselves heard. It’s always encouraging to feel support, no matter where you play. During the game I don’t focus on the stands, but after the final whistle we thanked the fans – their presence meant a lot.

I also want to thank our Armed Forces for giving us the chance to bring some joy to our people and country in such difficult times.
