FC Dynamo Kyiv head coach Mircea Lucescu has commented upon 4:1 win against FC Lviv for Football channel.
- We dominated throughout the game. The field was tough. I guess they watered it too much as it was slippery. We didn’t let Lviv side play the way they wanted – using long balls. We were patient and had chances before the conceded goal. For example, Supriaha didn’t use perfect opportunity. His casual attitude didn’t let him score.
If we took the lead in the 3rd minute, things would have been different. Instead, Lviv focused on defense and we didn’t have much space. We were lucky to equalize a minute after we conceded.
In the second half, we could score even more, but generally the difference between two sides was clear. I’m satisfied with my players, who demonstrated their character and didn’t give up after we conceded.
- Why did you substitute Supriaha?
- I gave him a chance to think of what he did on the field. He didn’t score when he was supposed to. Then he fouled in defensive half which resulted in penalty. He had to be more attentive and focused in those episodes. He has all qualities a striker should possess.
He must realize that professional football is about strong character and attentiveness. I hope he’ll learn this lesson.
- You also substituted Mykolenko and de Pena after the first half. What’s the reason?
- They got yellow cards, so I didn’t wasn’t to risk.
