On Saturday, 15 November, Dynamo Kyiv hosted their peers from Veres Rivne at their home ground as part of Matchday 16 of the National League U19.
From the opening minutes Ihor Kostiuk’s team controlled possession and dictated the tempo. Early on Pavlo Liusin delivered a dangerous low cross that forced keeper Kharechko to concede a corner. In response Veres had a free-kick delivery but goalkeeper Viacheslav Surkis confidently punched the ball away. Moments later Maksym Korobov cleared a threatening cross from Ihor Boichuk inside the penalty area.
In the 18th minute Ivan Andreiko created a scoring chance on his own. The winger dispossessed a Veres defender, broke into the penalty area but as he struck the ball it slipped off his foot and flew wide.
Veres defended tightly, creating difficulties for Dynamo’s attacking line, but the hosts continued producing chances. Andreiko had another opportunity later though his shot went over the crossbar.
In the 29th minute Dynamo registered their first shot on target through Volodymyr Ozymai who struck from outside the penalty area.
Shortly afterward the hosts earned a penalty: Matvii Ponomarenko won the spot-kick after being fouled in the box. The centre-forward confidently converted it in the 33rd minute. This goal increased his record tally at the Championship U19 / National League U19 level - it was his 49th goal.
Late in the first half Denys Dykyi broke into the Veres penalty area at speed but found himself surrounded and was unable to continue the attack. In the final minutes before the break Veres delivered two crosses into Dynamo’s box but neither produced a goal.
In the second half Dynamo continued attacking and creating chances. Near the end of the match they were awarded their second penalty after Boichuk fouled against Liusin in the area. Pavlo stepped up and converted the spot-kick, doubling Dynamo’s lead.
However Veres managed to pull one goal back. In the 88th minute Dmytro Murashko successfully finished a cross to make it 2:1. Just minutes later Surkis saved Dynamo from conceding another when Maksym Pylypei fired from close range.
In the dying seconds of the match Veres earned a free-kick. During the cross Murashko found space again and scored his second goal, denying Dynamo the victory.
The match ended in a 2:2 draw between Dynamo and Veres. Dynamo currently sit second in the National League U19 table with 29 points.
Dynamo will play their next U19 National League match against Kolos Kovalivka on Friday, 21 November, at 13:00.
