Dynamo defender Oleksandr Karavaiev commented for Football Hub on the away match against Karpaty Lviv which ended in a 3:3 draw:
- I already said earlier, after we lost victories in the final minutes, that it’s very frustrating. You need to stay focused until the very end. First they scored two goals against us, then in the second half we scored twice very quickly against Karpaty and we also created more chances, but didn’t take them.
- Is your goalkeeper Morgun to blame for the conceded goals?
- You can say many things but we win, lose or draw all together. These were the mistakes of the whole team that led to such a score. If we didn’t get three points, the whole team is to blame.
- It looked like in the first half you had a hard time against Karpaty…
- It’s really enjoyable to play against a team that both plays football themselves and lets the opponent play too. In such conditions both teams can show what they are capable of. It was open football plus the pitch was of very high quality, watered – I think this is exactly what our football needs. You saw how spectacular the match turned out to be.
Yes, in the first half it was tough for us but in the second half we pulled ourselves together. However we need to be this focused from the very first minute and throughout the entire match.
- You scored a great header after a cross to the near post – you used to do this a lot when you played for Zorya, right?
- Yes, when I played for Zorya I scored a lot like that, maybe 7-8 goals. I remember back then coach Yurii Koval worked with us on set pieces and it worked very well for me, so I keep using it (smiles).
- What does this brace mean to you? For a defender that’s a good result, isn’t it?
- I just need to bring benefit to the team. If I have the opportunity, I do it.
- Karpaty drew 3:3 with Shakhtar, now with Dynamo – are they really such a strong opponent?
- If that’s the result and the way they’re playing, then yes, it means they are. They play well both against strong opponents and in general against everyone. They have their own playing style so the Lviv side deserves compliments. As for us, we need to analyze and improve our game.
- Ahead is the start of the Conference League against Crystal Palace – do you know they beat Liverpool today?
- I heard they were winning during the match. Of course, we understand they are a very strong team. The Premier League is the highest level. We watch EPL matches all the time. I often talk with Vitaliy Mykolenko and also with Nazariy Rusyn when he was at Sunderland – they both say that English football is very physical and besides some of the best players in the world play there. We will study the opponent, prepare, go out on the field and play.
