The White-Blues’ defender Oleksandr Karavayev has shared his impressions of the win against FC Veres Rivne.
- It was a tough game. It was hot outside. Proper decisions were the priority. If your passes are accurate, you maintain possession while your opponent gets tired. It’s good we scored before the break, so things were easier in the second half. We followed the game plan and found our chances.
- Veres defended orderly in numbers early in the game, but then had to unfold, right?
- Many teams defend in numbers. Everyone has their own tactics. Early in the game, when players aren’t tired, they try to cover the space, but when time goes by they get tired, so if you control the game you’ll have chances. You just need to use those.
- Did you draw conclusions from the previous game against Veres?
- Of course we watched that game. They defend really well, so we were supposed to be patient and stay calm. That’s what we did.
- Matvii Ponomarenko has scored his first goal for Dynamo. Have you congratulated him?
- Sure, we have. Things were a bit tough for him in grownup football at first. We all explain certain aspects to him. He’s young and eager, but that’s not how things work in grownup football. One should be smarter. He heard us and didn’t cling to the ball too much today. And then used the chance he had. He’ll be fine if he keeps this up.
- This was your first appearance in a while. What’re you feeling?
- Of course I’m happy. It’s quite upsetting when you don’t play. Besides, you lose your shape. But I’m a professional, so I always wait for my chance. We have 20 players on the team, that’s a fierce competition. There’s always pressure and competition in Dynamo. One should wait for a chance and use it.
