In the 3rd round of the domestic Premier League Dynamo Kyiv faced the newcomer to the top division – Epicentr from Kamianets-Podilskyi. The match took place in Ternopil at the Roman Shukhevych Stadium.
Dynamo arrived for the game after a defeat to Pafos and elimination from the Champions league, so their desire to redeem themselves in front of the fans was enormous. And while the goalkeeper managed to deal with Voloshyn’s strike in the opening minutes, parrying it for a corner, in the 8th minute he still couldn’t prevent the ball from finding the net. After Mykhailenko’s cross into the penalty area Guerrero broke free from his marker and directed the ball into the corner of the goal – 0:1.
In the 15th minute the Panamanian could well have claimed his second goal of the evening. In fact Eduardo did score but the referee, after a VAR check, disallowed the goal for offside. Then, in the 20th minute, Guerrero fired again under all the rules but this time the post saved the Kamianets side.
Overall, despite the heat, both teams played actively. The hosts tried not to sit back in defense, looked for their chances, and eventually managed to equalize. In the 38th minute Dynamo lost the ball in midfield, Kamianets launched a quick counterattack, the ball was delivered into the penalty area, and Klymets, with a deflection of Bilovar’s leg, struck it into the net – 1:1.
However Dynamo went into halftime ahead. In the third added minute Pikhalionok delivered a free-kick cross from the left flank, the ball flew to the far post, where an unmarked Mykhailenko headed it past the goalkeeper – 1:2.
With the restart Dynamo continued to control possession but danger arose near Neshcheret’s goal. Sifuentes broke into the penalty area from the left wing and fired at the near post, but the Dynamo keeper was alert. Then, in the 57th minute, the visitors managed to extend their lead. Pikhalionok sent in a low cross from the left, the goalkeeper parried it into the danger zone, and Voloshyn was first to react, slotting the ball into the net – 1:3.
On the front foot Oleksandr Shovkovskyi’s men kept attacking, but shots from Yatsyk and Shaparenko from promising positions lacked accuracy. Bezhenar came closer for the hosts but his effort to the corner was saved by Neshcheret. A bit later Vanat could have scored against the team from his hometown: in one chance he shot straight at the keeper from close range and in another he found the net but from an offside position.
Still, Vladyslav did get his legitimate goal before the final whistle. In the third added minute Torres entered the box from the right, laid the ball to Shaparenko, who rolled it to Vanat, and all he had to do was slot it into the corner – 1:4.
So, a confident victory for Dynamo who continue their perfect start to the championship.
