Dynamo midfielder Oleksandr Pikhalonok shared his expectations ahead of the upcoming UEFA Europa Conference League group-stage match against Omonia.
– Today an interview with Oleksandr Karavaiev was published where he said that the team’s mood has been low because of recent results. How do you personally assess the atmosphere in the squad? And do you feel the team is ready for the match against Omonia?
– Oleksandr was right. The mood isn’t great because the team hasn’t been getting good results. But before every match we tune ourselves only for victory. Tomorrow we’ll try to show everything we’ve been working on in training and get the result. And then we’ll see how things go.
– What did you focus on during training? From a psychological perspective did you work on specific tactics? What did the coaching staff tell you before the match?
– We usually discuss everything but we don’t want to reveal anything specific. The match is tomorrow, you’ll see everything yourselves. We’ll talk more after the game.
– What is the current physical condition of the team? You held two training sessions in Lublin in cold weather while Cyprus is much warmer. Will you need time to adapt?
– I think the team is in good physical condition. As for the weather I don’t think it’s as hot now as it was when we played here in the summer. So I don’t think we’ll need any special adaptation.
– Share your impressions of your upcoming opponent – Omonia.
– We analysed many of their matches – the latest ones in the league and in European competitions. It’s a very experienced team, good on the ball, quick to transition from defence to attack. I think tomorrow will be a very interesting match.
