Dynamo midfielder Oleksandr Pikhalonok shared his impressions of the away match of the Ukrainian championship against Kolos Kovalivka in which the White-Blues were defeated 1:2:
– Conceding an early goal is already a downside. I can’t say that we weren’t properly prepared for the game. Unfortunately the first half ended 2:0 not in our favour. In the second half we started to play more sharply, scored near the end to make it 2:1 but unfortunately it wasn’t enough.
– Did the early goal ruin your game plan?
– Of course, it woke us up a bit. But even when you concede early there’s nothing terrible about it – it happens in football. You just need to keep playing and create chances. Unfortunately in simple situations we made wrong decisions and eventually lost.
– It seemed Dynamo had few chances and shots in the first half. What, in your opinion, prevented the team from creating them?
– We had 2-3 chances, and if we had taken them, we would be talking differently now. Kolos didn’t have that many opportunities in the first half either but they used theirs.
– Was there a tough conversation in the dressing room at halftime?
– Yes, it wasn’t an easy one.
– Did that conversation influence the more active play in the second half?
– Of course, something needed to change after the break, and yes – that talk definitely had an impact.
– Why is it traditionally difficult for Dynamo to play against Kolos in your opinion?
– I don’t know, that question isn’t for me.
– Have you already thought about the next Conference League opponent – Omonia from Cyprus?
– Not yet. Now that the match with Kolos is over and we will start thinking about it.
