First interview of Karavayev as Dynamo player
Brief biography of the White-Blues newcomer is for your attention.
The start
Olexandr was born in Kherson and went in for football as a kid. When he was 13, Karavayev was spotted by FC Shakhtar Donetsk scouts. They invited him to their academy and he reached the first team although didn’t get the opportunity to perform there.
Still he got another chance. When Belarusan coach Oleg Kononov took charge of FC Sevastopol, he started forming quite a decent team. After return to the UPL in 2013/14 season they finished ninth. Karavayev was one of key performers of that team. He made about fifty appearances and scored eight goals. In 2015 he made his debut for the national team.
Sevastopol treasure and Zoria
When Russia annexed Crimea, Olexandr left the peninsula, but took one of the most important treasures in his life with him – his wife Liudmyla he met in Sevastopol.
Meanwhile FC Zoria Luhansk appeared on the horizon. Yuriy Vernydub started working on quite ambitious project. Young talented performers got another opportunity to perform on serious level. Olexandr was one of them.
Karavayev played as right winger, who both attacked and defended, so actually he could be called a lateral. His first period with Zoria (2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons) was quite a success for Olexandr, who scored 16 goals in 66 matches.
That’s when he was called up to the national team. And then Olexandr went to Turkey.
Istanbul-Zaporizhia-Kyiv
So, he got a chance to demonstrate what he’s capable of in one of the best Turkish clubs – Fenerbahce. Many people believed he would become the first team regular.
His contract still belonged to Shakhtar and they were ready to let him go, but after 2016/17 season Olexandr returned to Ukraine having made only three appearances for Fenerbahce. Before the start of new season he was signed by Zoria.
Featuring for Luhansk side again, Olexandr became the team captain and leader. Besides, he kept featuring for Ukraine.
He was a definite first team performer, but started scoring less. The thing is that Yuriy Vernydub decided to use him closer to defensive line, actually as a right back.
Anyway, Olexandr has deserved his chance to feature on top level with FC Dynamo Kyiv.
