Pavlo Cherednichenko: «Psychologically we lost this game before it even started»

Pavlo Cherednichenko, the senior coach of the Dynamo U21 team, commented on the White-Blues’ home match against Cherkasy’s LNZ, in which our team suffered a narrow 0:1 defeat:

— First of all, I am dissatisfied with the players’ attitude. It was evident in the training process throughout the weekly cycle, so I can say that psychologically we lost this game before it even started.

— Nevertheless, you created good chances, but the finishing let you down?

— Yes. During the weekly cycle, we will work to correct this and work more focused and concentrated on the situations we failed to capitalize on in this match.

— What is your opinion of the penalty? In your view, was the decision fair, and did the opponent deserve to win?

— We cannot overturn any referee’s decision, so we accept it as it is. A penalty was awarded against us, and we lost the match. Therefore, we needed not to commit a foul so that the referee would not award a penalty.

— Pavlo Lyusin did not play today. Do you have any other squad absences?

— No. The team prepared throughout the weekly cycle, and all the players — both those who started and those who came on as substitutes — were planned for a long cycle; we are counting on all of them. Everyone has to give 100% and, first and foremost, contribute to the team’s result with their actions on the pitch.

— Is Pavlo Liusin fit?

— Yes, he is fit. He is preparing with the first team throughout the weekly cycle.

— The first team will have an away Ukrainian Cup match on Thursday. Is it already known which of your players will travel for the match against Nyva?

— We have discussed this with the first-team coaching staff, so this information is available. Several players who may be involved in the cup match — this is internal information of the coaching staff.

— What are your plans for preparing for the next match against Epitsentr?

— We will analyze the game and draw conclusions from it. We also have the U19 championship, where players who had less playing time will be involved together with a group of U19 footballers. The result we got today has a negative impact on our team, on the name and brand of Dynamo Kyiv. This should not happen, so this is an experience that, I hope, will only benefit the team. We will all draw the right conclusions, work harder and more, and will not repeat these mistakes.
