Pavlo Liusin: «There was a lot of physical battle and unfortunately we couldn’t outperform the opponent»

Dynamo Kyiv U19 midfielder Pavlo Liusin commented on the away draw against Oleksandriia (2:2) in which “white-blues” led twice but ultimately dropped points.

– It was a tough match and, unfortunately, not the best result. How would you comment on the game overall?

– Yes, we couldn’t win and ended up with a draw. We wanted to get a victory away from home and return with three points. The team tried, wanted to score but we couldn’t do it.

– You scored quite early today, already in the 4th minute. How much did that goal boost the team at the start?

– Of course, it’s always a good thing. We wanted to keep playing our game and continue scoring but it turned out that we conceded instead.

– Oleksandriia managed to equalize quickly twice. Why do you think that happened?

– Honestly I don’t know. Maybe we lost concentration after scoring, relaxed too early and our game fell apart a bit.

– Oleksandriia are in the lower part of the table. Did they surprise you in any way today?

– Not really. Every team wants to beat Dynamo and comes out highly motivated against us. As I said, maybe we relaxed too early which led to conceding goals.

– There were a lot of physical play and duels today. Did you expect such a battle?

– Yes, we expected it because the pitch wasn’t in the best condition. But our game didn’t really come together. There was a lot of physical battle and unfortunately we couldn’t outperform the opponent.

– At the end Dynamo were putting more pressure and attacking. What was missing to score and win?

– We lacked the final pass and the ability to deliver the ball into the last third to properly finish our attacks.

– The league is now going on a break. How would you assess this period after the season resumed for yourself and the team?

– Personally, I always want more – more goals and more assists. As for the team everyone is doing well – competing and winning. But there are matches where things just don’t go our way.

– You’ve been called up to Ukraine’s youth national team. What does that mean to you and what do you expect?

– I’m very happy to be called up and to represent my country. I’m going there only to win.
