FC Dynamo Kyiv announces with deep sorrow that the heart of Olena Huts stopped beating in her 96th year of life.
Olena Khrystoforivna had been part of the Dynamo family since childhood. As a member of the Dynamo Sports Society she built a successful career in artistic gymnastics - winning the USSR Championship and the Spartakiad and representing the Soviet team at the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki.
After finishing her competitive career she tried her hand at coaching. In 1960 she was first invited to work as a stadium announcer at matches of her beloved Dynamo Kyiv - and from that moment on for more than 50 (!) years she became the “Dynamo voice” at the club’s home games in national competitions and European tournaments. “Dear spectators, dear Kyivans and guests of the capital…” - these words spoken by Olena Huts are familiar to many generations of Kyiv football fans.
