FC Dynamo Kyiv head coach Mircea Lucescu answered media questions after the game against FC Mynai (2:0).
- Mister, why were Karavayev and Kabayev outside the players’ list?
- Karavayev got injured at the training session. He’ll be out for three weeks. Kabayev is injured too.
- Are you satisfied with your center backs today?
- Generally I am. Except for the episode when Diachuk made a mistake and we could concede. I forbid him short passes in front of the penalty area. But anyway he’s had a good game, just like Denys Popov.
We knew visitors would be using long balls, but our defenders coped with those even though they’re not as tall as their today’s opponents.
- Will Diallo get a chance after the return from AFCON?
- He’s not ready to play yet. Besides, he’s got injured. But even if he was fine, he wouldn’t play as he was away with the national teams for a whole month. What he needs now is time.
- Congrats on the second win in a row! Before the start of the season fans hoped that Lucescu would lead the team to the title again which would be Dynamo 30th domestic title in history. But things got complicated… Will Dynamo fight for the title this season?
- Don’t forget that today we can’t could on 14 players we had last year. Just listen to these names: Bushchan, Boiko, Karavayev, Zabarnyi, Mykolenko, Tsyhankov, Verbic, Vitinho, de Pena, Besedin, Kedziora and others. Besides, referee suspended our leading goalscorers Vitaliy Buialskyi after the game against Dnipro-1 which is too much in my opinion.
In our first spring game, Inhulets scored two goals after two bad mistakes of Kateryna Monzul. I didn’t see anything like that in the league after that.
We’ll be getting stronger step-by-step. We’re refreshing the team, giving young players a chance. Our youngsters must maintain certain level. Dynamo must be in euro cups. They need to sacrifice everything and do their best.
I agree that it’s unacceptable for Dynamo to be in this position. We have 10 more games. Buialskyi and Karavayev, our experienced players, are to be back. It’s hard to reach significant victories having only youngsters. But at the moment I think of the ways to build a team that would get stronger next season. And for that we need to start winning now.
- Anton Tsarenko has scored his debut goal. What did you tell him after the game? Is Vladyslav Vanat capable of becoming one of the leading players of Dynamo and the national team?
- As for young players, that takes patience. They play emotionally and make mistakes. But still I can see their progress. That’s important for the first team. We have talented youngsters. Like Bol and Malysh. But they lack experience. It will come with time. I try to facilitate their progress. Being 22-23, they can already think like 32-33-year-olds. I talk to them a lot.
