Dynamo goalkeeper Ruslan Neshcheret commented on his return to full training with the team and shared his expectations for the Ukraine national team’s matches in the Nations League.
— You returned to full training with the team at the beginning of the international break. Tell us how you feel after the training session and how you spent your recent days off?
— I spent the weekend at home, in Mukachevo. I came back in a good mood. I’m working with the group again. During the training session, I was keeping an eye on my leg and monitoring how it was feeling.
— Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick gave his players nine days off during this break. Is that a lot for club football?
— It’s difficult to say. I’ve never had nine consecutive days off in the middle of the season. I think three days is enough, four at most.
— What is the atmosphere like in the team without the international players? How do you maintain it?
— The guys are in a good mood after the victory over Zorya in our previous match. Of course, we miss the players who have joined their national teams. As for maintaining the atmosphere, for example, Heorhii Bushchan can lift everyone’s spirits. But everyone is in a good mood right now. We are training and returning to working mode.
— The Ukraine national team will play four Nations League matches in the coming weeks. What do you expect from these games?
— I always want our national team to win and earn the maximum number of points. Time will tell how the guys perform. I wish them nothing but success and victories.
— Ukraine will play an official match against Hungary for the first time - previously, the teams met twice in friendlies, with the first of those games being the first match in the history of our national team during the independence era. In your opinion, how will the upcoming game end?
— I want us to win, but everything will be decided on the football pitch.
— There has been a lot of talk about the record of Ukraine’s all-time leading goalscorer, which Andriy Yarmolenko could break. Will he manage to achieve this milestone over these four matches?
— Personally, I would really like him to. I believe he has everything he needs to break this record.
