The goalkeeper of Dynamo Kyiv shared his emotions on Football Hub after the 3:0 Ukrainian Cup semi-final win over Bukovyna Chernivtsi in which he kept a clean sheet.
— It was a tough game today and the pitch was difficult. There wasn’t much combination football but I think we did well running into counterattacks. We tried to play football – sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. You can see for yourselves they are a good team that secured promotion to the Premier League a few rounds before the finish so congratulations to them. We expected a tough match and it’s good that we managed to win.
— Was the key moment when Dakhnovskyi went one-on-one and you made the save, then stopped the rebound? If Bukovyna had scored the game probably would have gone differently…
— Yes, you could probably look at it that way. The importance of the first goal is always there. Also, as I said, on such a pitch it would have been difficult to come back. They would have dropped into five defenders in a low block and I don’t know if we would have managed to score. I think we played a really good game and deservedly won.
— How important is reaching the Cup final for Dynamo, considering that this tournament is a major priority?
— Of course, given the situation we are in, we are primarily focused on the Cup. We will also try to improve the situation we have in the Premier league. But I think today’s victory will give us more energy and motivation to keep working. And despite the criticism we are receiving now we will strive to play attractive high-quality football.
