In Round 5 of the Ukrainian Premier League-2, Dynamo Kyiv hosted Cherkasy’s LNZ at their own club training base in Vita-Lytovska.
Dynamo entered the game with a 100 percent record in terms of points won, but the LNZ players had no intention of surrendering to the hosts. There was a fierce battle on the pitch, with a large number of clashes and challenges, in which the LNZ players were in no way inferior to their Dynamo opponents.
At the 15th minute, the White-Blues created their first chance when Pashko’s direct free-kick went wide of the goal. A little later, Fedorenko used his individual skills to get into a shooting position, but his effort went just over the crossbar.
The visitors were not sitting back in defense either, and at the 22nd minute Roienko had to make a save after a long-range effort. Shortly before the break, Tlumak found himself in a shooting position, but his final effort lacked accuracy.
After the interval, Dynamo continued to attack. Pashko’s effort from a promising position was blocked, while Andreiko’s shot from outside the penalty area missed the target. However, despite the White-Blues’ attacks, it was the hosts’ net that was found. At the 61st minute, the referee awarded a penalty for a foul by Roienko, who brought down Matkivskyi inside his own penalty area, and Sliubyk converted the spot-kick despite the efforts of our goalkeeper – 0:1.
Soon afterwards, the visitors came close to doubling their advantage, but after Velykyi’s header, Roienko pulled the ball out from under the crossbar. Dynamo spent the final 15 minutes of the match on the attack, but Pavlo Cherednichenko’s side were unable to turn their attempts into a goal.
As a result, a narrow 0:1 defeat saw Dynamo lose points for the first time this season. The White-Blues will play their next match on Tuesday, September 15, when they host Epitsentr from Kamianets-Podilskyi.
