On Saturday, March 2, FC Dynamo Kyiv hosted FC Chornomorets Odesa in the Ukrainian Premier League matchday 19 game.
In this match, after a long break, fans were admitted to the stands. And let only a limited number is allowed for now, but playing in front of empty stands and even with partial occupancy are completely incomparable things. Fans missed football as well, so all the 1800 tickets available were sold out quickly.
Dynamo took the situation on the field under control straight away. Shaparenko could score in the 2nd minute, but the ball went a bit wide. In a minute Brazhko attempted after a free kick, but goalkeeper was there. Then the keeper parried the shot by Shepelev and follow-up from Vanat.
Visitors started responding halfway through the first half. Boichuk won the ball, found Iyede, but the Nigerian hit the goalkeeper.
Vanat attempted with a header after corner, but the ball went over the bar. Eventually, in the 37th minute, the home side succeeded. Voloshyn put a cross into the box, goalkeeper didn’t clear the ball properly and Shepelev was there with a follow-up – 1:0.
After the break the White-Blues continued their attacking efforts, but without too many shots on goal. Visitors were giving Bushchan some work to do as well. Heorhiy did it a few times after long-range strikes.
Vanat shot from in front of the penalty area – but the keeper was there. Kabayev aimed at the corner but goalkeeper did a good job again. Then Brazhko hit the post after rebound.
Late in the game Chornomorets attempted to apply pressure and find their chance, but failed. Then Supriaha had a decent opportunity, but the keeper parried his strike.
So, it’s 1:0 – Dynamo sixth UPL win in a row which lets the team reach the third place in the league table.
