On August 1, FC Dynamo Kyiv started their Ukrainian Premier League campaign.
They began it with the domestic game against FC Veres Rivne. It was the first UPL match of the season for Dynamo as their fixture against FC Mynai was postponed while Veres played in a goalless draw against FC Kolos Kovalivka.
The match was quite interesting and intense. By the way, Mircea Lucescu has caught cold, so he was absent at Kyivans’ bench.
The White-Blues took the situation under control at once and turned it into goals quickly. At first Popov headed the ball in after corner and touch by Karavayev.
In a minute Harmash doubled the score with another header after cross by Tymchyk. Later Dynamo had some more promising opportunities.
Still Rivne side had decent counterattacks. Bushchan saved our ream in one episode while Hehedosh missed when trying to hit the far corner. Halfway through the first half Popov got injured and was substituted with Zabarnyi.
Shortly before the break Tymchyk rushed into Veres penalty area, eluded the defender and hit the near corner – 3:0.
The second half also started with Dynamo attacks. Visitors mostly defended. Still they had a good opportunity, when the ball hit the post (although Veres player was flagged offside).
Veres goalkeeper Kohut coped with strike by Sydorchuk from distance and follow-up by Kulach. Veres almost pulled one back, but the goal was cancelled as Makhniev was offside. Meanwhile Dynamo increased the lead. Nemchaninov fouled against Tsyhankov inside the box, referee awarded penalty and Viktor converted from the spot – 4:0.
