FC Dynamo Kyiv head coach Mircea Lucescu answered journalists’ questions after the UPL match against FC Chornomorets Odesa (2:3).
- What was the toughest thing for your team today?
- The mistakes we made. Sorry for my emotions, but I’m really mad… The trip from Bucharest to Odesa was tough, but that’s not an excuse. We had to win.
- Did you regret using all substitutions after Syrota was sent off?
- Our previous game lasted 120 minutes, so, for instance, it was tough for Yarmolenko and Sydorchuk to continue, especially considering the heat. Thus they asked for substitutions. Players, who took the field, were supposed to enforce the team. The mistake Diachuk made is unacceptable. Our center backs are still quite young and can’t do everything I want them to.
Meanwhile Chornomorets played very orderly today. They had a week to get ready for this game unlike us. They used counterattacks really effectively.
- You mentioned you can’t invite Ukrainian players to your team. Is that about budget issues or you just don’t see anyone capable to enforce the team?
- We’re still looking for candidates to enforce our defense. I need to talk to the president of the club. We currently give our young defenders a chance, but the truth is that they need a year or two to reach the level Dynamo demand. We were really unlucky to lose Popov for two games. We’ll see what happens next.
