In the 8th round of the VBET Ukrainian Premier League Dynamo Kyiv hosted Metalist 1925 Kharkiv at the Valeriy Lobanovskyi Stadium. Despite their underdog status, the visitors arrived in fine form, sitting in the league’s top five and boasting a six-match unbeaten streak.
The match began at a lively pace with both teams creating early chances. Dynamo controlled possession and built attacks patiently while the Kharkiv side relied on quick transitions and long passes.
In the 18th minute Eduardo Guerrero struck the crossbar after a fine turn in the box and Nazar Voloshyn sent the rebound over. Soon after Mykola Mykhailenko tested the goalkeeper with a powerful long-range shot.
On 25 minutes Dynamo’s captain Vitaliy Buyalskyi almost scored a spectacular overhead kick but the Metalist 1925 goalkeeper produced a brilliant save.
The breakthrough finally came in the 35th minute - after a swift team move Nazar Voloshyn received the ball on the edge of the box and slotted it past the keeper to make it 1:0.
Right after the break Eduardo Guerrero had a great chance to double the lead when Vitaliy Buialskii sent him through one-on-one but the Kharkiv goalkeeper denied him.
The visitors gradually gained control and looked more dangerous. In the 58th minute Ivan Lytvynenko equalized with a precise shot from 15 meters after a setup by Peter Itodo - 1:1.
