FC Dynamo Kyiv hosted FC Shakhtar Donetsk at the NSC Olimpiyskyi within the Ukrainian Premier League matchday 10.
Comparing with the Super Cup game that took place a week and a half ago, Mircea Lucescu made several substitutions in the White-Blues’ starting lineup. Heorhiy Bushchan was the goalkeeper again, Olexandr Karavayev replaced injured Vitaliy Mykolenko and Vitinho made his debut appearance among first eleven as striker.
Before this match, Dynamo were three points in front of Shakhtar in the league table, so both sides started the game quite carefully. Still in 10 minutes they exchanged scoring chances. Carlos de Pena rushed into the penalty area from the left wing and hit the post while Alan Patrick sent the ball wide from distance in the following counterattack.
Later Bushchan parried the header by Stepanenko and Piatov coped with the attempt by Olexandr Karavayev.
Marlost tried to hit the far corner from the box line, but missed. Late in the first half Vitinho missed the target twice. Piatov saved Shakhtar after cross from Buialskyi and rebound.
Second half started with another shot by Vitinho and dangerous free kick from Dynamo that resulted in opportunity for Tsyhankov. Piatov cleared his strike.
Right before the final whistle, the situation got very tough in Dynamo penalty area. Eventually Karavayev cleared the ball from the goal line after corner.
So, it’s 0:0 – Dynamo remain three points ahead of Shakhtar in the league table.
