FC Dynamo Kyiv forward Vladyslav Vanat has shared his impressions of the White-Blues’ first official game of the year – 4:2 win against FC Metalist 1925 Kharkiv. Vanat scored a brace in this match.
- What kind of emotions do you experience after the first game in the second part of the season?
- Emotions are positive as we’ve won, but personally I didn’t like my performance in the first half: too many mistakes, poor finishing in one-on-one situation. But after the break I managed to score twice.
- But isn’t it good when a forward has a lot of scoring chances?
- It is, but it’s better when you use those.
- How did the early opener impact the game? Was it unexpected?
- It wasn’t unexpected because this is Denys Harmash. You can expect anything from him. It was a good goal. I guess only he could score like that.
- Was it important to equalize before the break?
- Of course it is. 0:1 and 1:1 after the first half are totally different situations.
- Did you feel you wouldn’t let victory slip away when the score became 2:1?
- Not at all. Even when the score got 3:1 nothing was settled. We conceded the second goal, so it wasn’t clear if we would win.
- How come the game was so spectacular in the second half?
- Metalist 1925 scored the early opener and moved back, so it was more problematic to cope with their defense. But after conceding they rushed forward and we got space to create a lot of chances.
- Dynamo put a lot of crosses into the penalty area, but didn’t turn a single one into goal. What’s the problem with that?
- We work on that aspect, but can’t effectively do that all the time. In the second half there were a lot of crosses, but in the second half we played a bit differently and succeeded.
- Could you please describe your goals?
- The first goal – Shaparenko moved forward, passed to Voloshyn, Nazar put an accurate low cross and I scored. As for the second one, Shaparenko unleashed a good strike, hit the post and I was there with a follow-up. I practice that at our training sessions every day.
