Young Dynamo Kyiv defender Vladyslav Zakharchenko made his Ukrainian Premier League debut in the 1:1 draw against Metalist 1925 Kharkiv. After the match the 19-year-old shared his first impressions and thoughts on the game.
- Did you expect to come on so early? Were you ready to enter the match?
- Yes, of course. Everyone on the bench must always be ready to step in at any moment. It happened that Kristian Bilovar got injured and coaching staff decided to put their trust in me.
- What happened in the episode when Dynamo conceded the goal? Was it a lack of concentration or miscommunication?
- I don’t know yet, I haven’t rewatched that moment. During the game it’s hard to see who didn’t track back or close down. We’ll analyze it later - that’s what our review sessions are for so everyone can look and learn individually.
- You’ve already made your debut in the Ukrainian Cup and now in the UPL. What are your feelings?
- Of course, it feels great when coaching staff trusts you. Every player wants to get on the pitch and help the team. Unfortunately we couldn’t complete our task today and get three points. A draw is disappointing but I’m sure there’s more to come.
- This is the team’s fourth consecutive draw in the league. Do you feel the criticism from fans and the media?
- There’s always criticism. I think this is just an unfortunate stretch - it happens to every team. We have to get through it and keep moving forward.
