The initiator of this idea Mykola Neseniuk has told about purpose of that act:
- It all started before Dynamo home game against Guingamp, when match director didn’t let supporters demonstrate the large shirt with “Ukraine above all!” inscription on it.
Our fans really wanted to do that, so my Dynamo colleague Olexiy Semenenko asked me to come up with some idea.
What message could we write for football Europe? There are people, who want to present Dynamo fans as dangerous hooligans… So, we wanted to tell something the whole world would understand. Well, if not the whole world, then at least guests from Liverpool and English TV viewers.
Personally for me words “Liverpool” and “The Beatles” are closely related. I’ve always been fond of songs of this band. Liverpool airport is named after John Lennon. In 1967, as the Vietnam War and Caribbean Crisis were on, the first teleconference bridge via satellite in the history of mankind was arranged. The Beatles were asked to sing for this event and John Lennon wrote the song called “All You Need Is Love”.
I thought that John Lennon’s words expressed by Dynamo supporters would be appropriate as love and peace are above all for us.
We are for love and peace! You know who wants war. The whole world knows that!
