Forthcoming duel sparks interest not only in our country, but also abroad.
On a recent day L’Équipe journalist Anthony Volfsten came to Kyiv to prepare some video materials about Ukraine, its capital, FC Dynamo Kyiv and our national team.
According to our colleague the main striking power of Ukraine is the White-Blues forward Andriy Yarmolenko. He has answered several journalist’s questions.
- Andriy, what was your reaction when you got to know that Ukraine will face France?
- I had no preferences, but France were outlined against other teams.
- You are a young player and games against France must be a good chance for you to be spotted by football Europe…
- I’m already 24, so I don’t think I’m very young. Of course France are very good team, but we’ll try to demonstrate our best qualities to qualify for the World Cup.
- What are your expectations of forthcoming matches?
- I’m waiting for something grandiose. Forthcoming matches are very important for us. It’s a dream for any player to take the field in such game.
- What can help Ukraine defeat France?
- At the moment both sides have equal chances. France have many good performers, who feature for European top clubs. Still we also have very good squad. We are very ambitious team. I think we must outplay France due to our spirit and unity.
- Speaking about French performers, who deserves special attention?
- First of all Franck Ribery. He deserves Ballon d'Or.
- What is Mykhailo Fomenko’s recipe for success?
- As he took charge of the national team we started analyzing opponents’ play in detail. Theoretical classes are very long. Besides at the moment all players are on the same page.
- How do you imagine next five years of your career?
- I don’t want to take a long shot. At the moment I have a contract with Dynamo and I love this club.
- What is your football dream?
- Football is my life, that’s why all of my dreams do with it. I want to win trophies: Europa League, Champions League, World Cup and European championship.
