Austrian referee to take charge in Kyiv

Austrian referee Konrad Plautz has been appointed to take charge of Thursday’s UEFA Cup semi-final match between Dynamo (Kyiv) and FC Shakhtar (Donetsk) at the Lobanovskyy Dynamo stadium in Kyiv.

Konrad Plautz, born in the Alpine town of Navis on 16 October 1964, took up refereeing as a teenager, at the age of 20, making his debut in the Austrian Bundesliga in 1992. He received his FIFA badge in 1996 and, in that same year, was chosen to handle the European Under-16 Championship final in Vienna. At present, he successfully combines his physical activity with the roles of director and actor for a local theatrical group.

In Kyiv, the 44-year-old will be supported by compatriots Roland Heim and Armin Eder as assistant referees, along with Stefan Messner, the fourth official.
