Benjamin Verbic: “I told referee: “Don’t watch – there was no penalty”

In one of the episodes, when referee called a foul of Vitaliy Havrysh against Benjamin Verbic, our winger admitted that there was actually no foul, but referee still checked VAR. Benjamin has commented upon this episode:

- Kedziora put a cross from the wing, I wanted to outrun the defender, but didn’t manage to. Maybe I even fouled in that episode. There was definitely no penalty. I told referee at once: “Don’t watch anything – there was no penalty”. He said: “Wait, I’ll check VAR”. These multiple pauses for VAR were disrupting the tempo. Anyway it’s our fault that we didn’t demonstrate better play.

The only positive thing is that we’ve gained three points. In previous games against FC Oleksandria and FC Vorskla Poltava we proved we can demonstrate decent football. We did better even against FC Shakhtar Donetsk than against Kolos. Every match matters a lot to us. We need to win each game to finish second.
