On Monday the defender of Brazilian Santos Betão has signed a five-year contract with Dynamo Kyiv and already left to Austria with the team for its training session. After signing the contract with the club Betao answered few questions for Dynamo official site www.fcdynamo.kiev.ua.
- I am very happy to be in Dynamo now. It’s a good event in my football career. Undoubtedly, this club is known in Europe. New opportunities are opened for me here. I’m eager to play in the first team, so I’ll do my best to achieve this goal and to win many trophies with the team.
- Your professional football career started in Corinthians. What does this club mean to you?
- I spent 14 years in Corinthians. That’s definitely a long period. It’s a great club with a huge number, second largest in the country, of fans. Dynamo is very popular in Ukraine too. It is an important fact for me.
- Did you have any other variants of continuing your football career, apart from Dynamo?
- Some French and Russian clubs were interested in me. But I preferred Dynamo Kyiv club.
- What was your main argument?
- I already said that this club has its own traditions. I’m sure that we will do well in Champions League qualifiers and make it to the group stage.
- What is your favourite position on the pitch?
- I had been playing as a left defender in Corinthians for three years. When I was in Santos, I used to play on the right or in the center of defense. So I may say that I can manage these three positions if it’s needed.
- Did you have a chance to see Kyiv?
- Yes, it’s really great. My agent Fabio described me Kyiv as a very beautiful city. Now I see that he was right. I’m happy to stay here.
- What does your nickname Betão means?
- It’s a Portuguese word for “concrete”. It means that I’m as strong as a rock.
- Do you correspond to this nickname on the pitch?
- I do my best. I hope you’ll see it very soon.
