We’ve decided to look 40 years back to see what squad Valeriy Lobanovskyi used in the Soviet Top League match against FC Ararat Yerevan that took place a week before the Cup Winners’ Cup final the White-Blues reached.
So, that game was played on May 7 1975 inYerevan with the presence of 45,000 spectators. The starting lineup of our team looked as follows: Rudakov, Konkov, Matvienko, Buriak, Reshko, Kuznetsov, Muntian, Onyshchenko, Kolotov, Veremeev, Blokhin.
Kyivans won 3:2 and left for Basel to play the decisive match of euro cups campaign.
Dynamo first eleven was almost the same as in the previous domestic league fixture but for two exceptions (Fomenko and Troshkin replaced Kuznetsov and suspended Veremeev). Kyivans defeated Ferencvarosi TV 3:0 and got their first Cup Winners’ Cup trophy!
Now let’s recall April 27 1986. Six days before the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup final Dynamo faced FC Spartak Moscow within the Soviet Top League.
Kyivans’ starting lineup was like this: Chanov, Bezsonov, Baltacha, Kuznetsov, Demianenko, Rats, Yakovenko, Yaremchuk, Zavarov, Yevtushenko, Belanov.
The White-Blues defeated Moscow side 2:1 and five days later flattened Atletico Madrid 3:0!
Triumphants’ first eleven was almost the same as in the previous game. Only Blokhin substituted Yevtushenko.
Tomorrow we’ll find out what strategy FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk head coach Myron Markevych will choose for the match against the White-Blues. Nine days later the game in Warsaw will demonstrate it was correct…
