Two years ago, on July 23 2020, Mircea Lucescu became FC Dynamo Kyiv head coach.
In the first season under his charge, Dynamo won their first golden treble in 14 years – Ukrainian Premier League, Ukrainian Cup and Ukrainian Super Cup. Besides, they went through the Champions League qualifiers and reached the group stage.
In two years, Dynamo played 70 official matches with Lucescu as their gaffer:
UPL – 44 (W-34, D-8, L-2)
Ukrainian Cup – 4 (W-4)
Ukrainian Super Cup – 2 (W-1, L-1)
Champions League including qualifiers – 16 (W-4, D-3, L-9)
Europa League – 4 (W-1, D-1, L-2)
Generally, the White-Blues won 44 games out of 70, lost 14 and played in a draw 12 times.
War interrupted the White-Blues’ second season under the charge of Lucescu. After the start of russian invasion, Mister became one of the inspirers of Dynamo European charity tour aimed to help Armed Forces of Ukraine and Ukrainians suffering from war.
“Europe mustn’t forget that Ukraine is fighting. And we’ll demonstrate that through our matches. We use our possibilities to help people”. These words of Lucescu were quoted by many European media after the first charity match.
Dynamo youngsters demonstrate significant progress working with Lucescu. The White-Blues are the major club of the national team again.
Despite all difficulties, Dynamo keep setting ambitious goals as they aim to reach the Champions League group stage.
