Dynamo Kyiv returned to the top of the Ukrainian Premier League table after defeating capital rivals FC Arsenal Kyiv 3-0 at the Lobanovskyy Dynamo stadium on Saturday.
The White-Blues broke the deadlock on 34 minutes as Croatian international midfield player Ognjen Vukojević met a neat pass from Roman Eremenko and shot high into the net from about 20 meters. Andriy Yarmolenko had a great chance to double his side’s advantage moments later, but missed the target from close range. Midway into the second period, however, Dynamo scored again when Arsenal goalkeeper Vitaliy Reva parried Andriy Shevchenko's shot into Magrao's path, and the Brazilian was left with the simple task of making the score 2-0. The third goal came just three minutes later, when Dynamo captain Artem Milevskyy found himself one-on-one against Arsenal custodian and made no mistake. The only consolation for Vyacheslav Groznyy's side was a 73rd-minute strike from Serhiy Zakarlyuka. Arsenal finished the game with nine men after Bohdan Shershun and Serhiy Symonenko were both sent off.
The three points moved Valeriy Gazzaev’s side above FC Shakhtar Donetsk, who were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk. With six games left to play, Dynamo are now level on points with the Pitmen but top due to their superior goal difference.
