Dynamo – AZ – 2:0. Match report

Dynamo Kyiv secured their second victory in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday after overcoming AZ Alkmaar on home soil. This win lifts the White-Blues up to the second place in the Group E table and significantly increases their chances of advancing to the next stage of competition.

Dynamo's caretaker coach Oleh Luzhnyy fielded exactly the same starting line-up that beat FC Illichivets Mariupol 9-0 in the Premier league match earlier on Sunday. The decision proved beneficial as his team looked the more threatening side from the very beginning of the match and made some serious troubles for AZ goalkeeper Sergio Romero.

Despite all efforts, the first half ended goalless but everything changed in the second half. Dynamo broke the deadlock right after the restart, when Artem Milevskyy received the ball in front AZ goal from Roman Eremenko and sent it past Romero right into the bottom corner.

The hosts doubled their advantage just after the hour mark with Milevskyy and Eremenko again combining to deepen the Dutch side’s gloom.

Belarusian side BATE Borisov defeated FC Sheriff in the night's other Group E match and currently lead the table.
