Dynamo Kyiv secured three valuable points on Sunday evening with a well-deserved victory over FC Illichivets Mariupol.
Yuriy Semin’s side opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Milos Ninković pounced on Artem Milevskyy’s parried shot. After the restart Dynamo coach injected fresh energy into his team’s play, bringing in Andriy Shevchenko and Denys Harmash. Soon after that, Dynamo doubled their advantage. Ognjen Vukojević tried to turn in Andriy Shevchenko’s free-kick with his head, but his attempt was parried by Illichivets goalkeeper Bohdan Shust, only for Andriy Yarmolenko to convert from close range.
Then, nine minutes later defender Bohdan Butko made it 3-0 with own goal. Denys Kozhanov pulled one back for Illichivets with a strong long-range kick on the stroke of full-time, but it was just a little consolation for the visitors.
Dynamo remain level on points with Shakhtar Donetsk at the top of the table with the Pitmen boasting a better goal difference.
