FC Dynamo Kyiv got past Valencia CF on away goals in the second leg of their UEFA Cup Round of 32 tie. Dynamo striker Artem Kravets became the hero of the night as he hit two crucial goals in the opponents’ net giving Dynamo a 3-3 aggregate draw.
Both sides showed their attacking intent from the starting minutes of the match. The hosts went close to opening the scoring through David Villa and Alexis, but it was Dynamo who took the lead with Kravets flashing a low strike into the bottom-left corner of César Sanchez's net. But a minute before the interval Marchena headed Manuel Fernandes's free-kick past Bogush and brought the hosts level.
Valencia scored again in the 54th minute as Del Horno capitalised after Dynamo had failed to deal with another Fernandes free-kick. However, Kravets made it 2-2 with 16 minutes from time, sending a shot high into the net from the right side of the area after receiving Correa’s clever pass. Valencia still had time to find a winner but, despite their best efforts, they could not breach the visitors’ defence.
The White-Blues will take on Metalist in an all-Ukrainian Round of 16 clash on 12 and 18/19 March. But first the two teams are to meet next Wednesday when they resume their domestic campaign.
