Dynamo Kyiv shared a goalless draw with Sheriff Tiraspol on Wednesday evening but nonetheless reached the Europa League play-offs as the Group E winners thanks to AZ Alkmaar's 3-0 win against FC BATE Borisov the same evening.
With Dynamo’s Group E progression already assured after their 4-1 win over FC BATE two weeks ago, Oleh Luzhnyy’s side went into the match hoping to avenge their 2-0 loss in Tiraspol on Matchday 2. Unfortunately, despite dominating the match and having the better opportunities to win, the White-Blues could not find the breakthrough and had to settle for a share of the spoils. It is obvious that the visitors should thank their young goalkeeper Dmitri Stajila for his outstanding display.
However, the result does ensure that Dynamo conclude the group stage on top spot with 11 points from six games played and means they can now go on winter break vacation in a good mood.
