The friendly encounter vs. Zenit was Dynamo’s first game in Spain, whereas the Russian opponents were playing ahead of their UEFA Cup R of 32 1st leg game vs. Villarreal.
Zenit were the first to take advantage of the scarce scoring chances that both team had in the first half. In the 30th minute Pogrebnyak netted in the cross he picked from Zyrianov. As the second half kicked off, the Russians doubled their lead through Fayzulin.
Dynamo were not going to give up and replied instantly when Kravets found the target two minutes later. Zenit were winning 2-1 all the way through the game. Their mood was spoilt by Oleksandr Aliyev who scored a late equalizer.
