On May 13, 1927, a historic event took place that became the starting point of the glorious history of Dynamo Kyiv. It was on this day that the Kyiv Proletarian Sports Society “Dynamo” was officially registered. A football team was later formed within the society - one that would become a symbol of Ukrainian football and a source of pride for many generations of supporters.
Dynamo Kyiv celebrates its 99th anniversary during a difficult time for Ukraine. For the fifth consecutive year the country has been living under the conditions of a full-scale war, and the club together with the entire Ukrainian people continues to do everything possible to help bring about a just peace and Ukraine’s victory. Dynamo supports Ukrainian servicemen, helps the Armed Forces of Ukraine and remains a symbol of unity, strength of spirit and resilience.
Despite all challenges of wartime the club continues to develop and move forward. Special attention is devoted to the education of the next generation of footballers - work on the future of Ukrainian football continues every day at the Valeriy Lobanovskyi Dynamo Kyiv Youth Football School. Academy’s players proudly represent Ukraine in youth national teams across various age categories while most talented graduates join the main national team.
Dynamo’s main mission remains unchanged - to support the development of football in Ukraine, preserve and increase the glory of the great club and the country on the international stage, inspire new generations and give supporters pride in Ukrainian football.
On this day we gratefully remember everyone who has shaped the history of Dynamo over nearly a century - players, coaches, club employees and millions of supporters. We express special respect to Dynamo representatives and fans who are currently defending Ukraine with weapons in their hands against russian aggression. Every day we thank the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the opportunity to live, work, play football and preserve sporting life in Ukraine.
Ahead lie new victories, new generations of talented footballers and the great centenary of this legendary club. Because Dynamo Kyiv is the history, traditions and future of Ukrainian football.
