He was a part of the White-Blues “golden” team that managed to break the hegemony of Moscow teams in 1961 and to win the Soviet Top League for the first time. Viktor Petrovych was one of the leaders of the squad formed by Viacheslav Soloviov, but even when Viktor Maslov took charge of the club he saved his starting spot unlike many of his teammates.
Featuring for Dynamo (1959 – 1971) Serebrianykov won the Soviet Top League four times and became the USSR best player twice. In 2004 he was awarded with Order of Merit of the Third Class and in 2011 – of the Second Class.
He passed away on November 12 at the age of 74.
Hundreds of people came to Dynamo Stadium to say goodbye to the legendary performer.
The White-Blues president Ihor Surkis has told about deserts of Viktor Petrovych.
- Viktor Serebrianykov forged Dynamo glory. Even opponents admired his play. Free kicks, assists, goals… He was a very humble man. It’s bitter to lose such person.
Serebrianykov’s teammates Andriy Biba, Anatoliy Suchkov and Yozhef Sabo grieved with the family of the deceased.
- Viktor Serebrianykov embodied the football era of the 1960s, - recalled Andriy Biba his teammate. – He was a great player, who became FC Dynamo Kyiv symbol. People admired him all over the world. He participated in three World Cups, which was a great achievement.
Volodymyr Veremeev was making his first steps in Dynamo as Serebrianykov was finishing his career.
- First of all he was outstanding player. It was really difficult to earn the right to feature at three World Cups as Moscow coaches were mostly in charge of the USSR national team. Everyone remembers his free kicks. Those shots were amazing.
Dynamo players of different generations, head coach of the team Serhiy Rebrov, direction and employees of the club, Football Federation of Ukraine representatives, colleagues etc. were present at the memorial service.
After the last honour lap at Dynamo Stadium great player Viktor Serebrianykov left for BerkovetskeCemetery.
Rest in peace, dear Viktor Petrovych…
