Ihor Surkis: “We count on progress and quality football from Brazhko”

FC Dynamo Kyiv president Ihor Surkis has commented upon the signing of a new contract with the midfielder Volodymyr Brazhko.

- First of all, I would like to thank Volodymyr for his professionalism and understanding of the situation. Everyone knows that we were negotiating his transfer, but there is such a thing as the interests of the club. For us they come first and as we see now, for Brazhko as well. It’s very important that the player is ready to continue to progress and benefit the team.

- Were the negotiations difficult?

- No, it was a constructive and clear dialogue for both sides. Volodymyr is Dynamo trainee, he understands perfectly well that he can help the team win important victories in the UPL and euro cups, progress, become an important player in the national team. All conditions for development have been created for him, he’s an ambitious and professional guy, so we expect him to reach an even higher individual level.

- Did you feel Brazhko was unsatisfied with the outcome of January negotiations with Wolverhampton?

- Brazhko has been in Dynamo system years, so he knows perfectly well that we never hold anyone back by force or persuasion. If a player really wants to join another club and it matches Dynamo interests, we always go along with it. Besides, this is professional football, where not all negotiations end with the signing of an agreement.

This is a normal process. Everything was professional on Brazhko’s part. I even think this situation will motivate him to play even better.
