FC Dynamo Kyiv president Ihor Surkis has commented upon the game against FC Shakhtar Donetsk (1:1).
- Did you congratulate the team or maybe you’re disappointed?
- 1:1 is not a victory.
- But Dynamo were behind till the 87th minute…
- Right, but Karavayev took the field and scored a spectacular goal. We weren’t worse today. The battle is still ahead. The season is long, one game doesn’t decide anything.
- But so far Dynamo are six points ahead of Shakhtar. Did you have a minimal goal to preserve this advantage?
- We didn’t have a goal to draw. We aimed to win. So did Shakhtar. This is football.
- What did you think of till the 55th minute? Before the red card Shakhtar Dominated and created more chances.
- They had more chances in the first half, but in the second the scored illogic goal. But we could score as well. Voloshyn had to equalize. The game was even. It’s not our fault that Shakhtar player was sent off.
- What do you think of the refereeing in general?
- Referee booked both sides. Even if it was a friendly between Dynamo and Shakhtar, things would have been the same.
- You usually say there’re Dynamo and Shakhtar and then all other UPL clubs. What do you think of the current situation in the league table?
- Oleksandria are doing really good job under the charge of Rotan, not like last season. I really like Oleksandria. Kryvbas have experienced coach, there’s also Polissia... But the league isn’t as good as it was before. I think when the war is over things will get back to normal.
- Do you think Dynamo applied squad changes in the game against Roma with a focus on the match against Shakhtar?
- I hoped the lineup would be a bit different, but that’s the gaffer’s decision. I trust him. All our players must be able to take the field and prove we need them. I hope that game gave them confidence. I’ve got a feeling that if Mykhailenko or Rubchynskyi played today, they wouldn’t make things worse. We had an unfortunate accident with Shaparenko. A few hours before the game he cut his shoulder with the glass door. The glass just fell on him. That’s why he didn’t play today. We would’ve been more creative in the midfield if he did. But I still liked the way we played.
