- Of course Yarmolenko wants to perform in Barclays Premier League. Stoke City and Everton are good teams and he wanted to join one of them, but today Dynamo need Andriy more than ever as he’s our leader.
I will let him go. I told him I would have nothing against some top club signing him, but we haven’t got such offers. They say in a year he’ll leave for free and I’ll lose money, but I’ve got used to that. Investing quite a lot into football I consider success of the team in the Champions League to be more important than transfer of Andriy Yarmolenko. If he gets any offers in winter and we don’t get out of the group I’ll let him go. If we qualify for the next round I’ll try to make him stay.
- Have you offered him a new contract?
- I haven’t discussed that with him so far as today he won’t hear me. Last year he also wanted to leave, but then he came and prolonged his contract.
We are not enemies. I’m thankful to him for everything he’s done for Dynamo, but I want more! I’ve been forming this team for ages and I’m ready to sacrifice money for positive result.
Maybe I’m wrong and I’ll get neither good result not money, but I’m a person, who can take a risk!
Why didn’t Everton and StokeCity address to us when the transfer window just opened? I sold Lens and signed Gonzalez after that.
Everton started negotiations only 5-6 days ago. I’m talking about real negotiations. What should I do? Should I let Yarmolenko go and feel ashamed for our Champions League campaign? I don’t want that. Still that shame is possible even with Yarmolenko.
Anyway I think having Yarmolenko in our squad we have better chances for demonstrating worthy play and getting out of the group.
- Do you mean you would have sold Yarmolenko if Everton addressed to you earlier?
- If they addressed to me when transfer period started and if their offer was satisfactory for me I probably would have let Yarmolenko go.
- Did Yarmolenko want to join this team?
- He did, but I can assure you that he deserves featuring for best European clubs. Anyway it’s up to me to decide so far. When Andriy’s time to render the decision comes I won’t put any pressure!
- Hasn’t he taken umbrage about you for not letting him go?
- I don’t think so. We have a normal dialogue. We talked several days ago. He’s a wise guy and I’ve explained him everything. The team is above all.
