Lobanovskyi was a comrade and friend for Surkis. He was the person whose advice the president of our club tried to follow.
On May 13 Ihor Surkis laid flowers at the Lobanovskyi monument and had a talk with his family. After that he answered journalists’ questions.
- Eleven years ago a great citizen of Ukraine passed away. It was a person who has done a lot for football. He is being looked up to till now. We saw how fans took leave of Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford. Valeriy Lobanovskyi deserved the same. Unfortunately it happened another way. Nowadays people who cherish reminiscence of the great coach gather to pay tribute to him.
- How often do you recall Valeriy Lobanovskyi?
- I recall him very often as Dynamo haven’t achieved great success after him.
- In the beginning of 1980s Lobanovskyi managed to raise Dynamo to the top of the tournament bracket. What would his reaction to current situation be like?
- He would have worked on. Oleh Blokhin was right saying that it takes time to create a team. Our coach will have this time and then we’ll estimate his work.
- You communicate with Lobanovskyi’s daughter Svitlana. Do you have friendly relations?
- We communicate very often. Recently Adelaida Lobanovska visited my office. We really have friendly relations.
