- Is new formation using three defenders beneficial?
- Maybe this formation is really effective. If it helps us succeed, it means that this formation is a good one. Still we must find out if it keeps being beneficial. Shakhtar haven’t won the league yet, have they? Meanwhile we don’t have a single chance. 14 points between us and Shakhtar of 11… It doesn’t really matter. We need really good play and dedication in the Champions League or in the Europa League. It’s great that even after we scored the 4th goal against Olimpik our players were defending together and trying to stay in possession. One should take into account that it was our first game on normal turf. Still we play on any kind of turf. For example, we lost in Kropyvnytskyi on some kind of concrete, but we don’t complain. It’s not right when they cancel a game for one team while another plays because there’s already some grass on the field. There was the same turf under that grass as in Poltava. Anyway we’re ready to play on any field as we realize what the situation in our country is like.
- What do you think of cancelation of the cup match between FC Poltava and FC Shakhtar Donetsk?
- If the field was of inappropriate quality, I think they knew about it long before the game. After the match in Kropyvnytskyi Rebrov said that the turf was one of the reasons for our defeat, but we didn’t ask anyone to reschedule the match though those three could have been “golden”. Such shadow play doesn’t improve reputation of our football federation. This body must be independent.
They’re talking about some single pool… Does this means Football TV channel will be throwing mud at Dynamo in every show and offending my player while I’ll be keeping silent? That’s never going to happen no matter how much money they offer us. Our home games will be broadcasted by 2+2 channel. If people, who’ve insulted my players, think I’ve forgotten that, they’re wrong.
- Some say Dynamo forthcoming match against Shakhtar has been rescheduled because of the wedding of your brother’s daughter?
- At first they were saying that’s because of my daughter’s wedding, but she got married a year ago – on April 8. My brother’s daughter is really getting married on April 22, but if people think the match has been rescheduled because of that, they’re mistaken. Considering that both Dynamo and Shakhtar will play the Ukrainian Cup fixtures on Wednesday, we agreed to face each other on Friday. Besides, we can appoint the game to any day from Friday till Sunday as we’re the home side. I hope fans will come to the stadium to support us. At the moment I think about the future. I guess we’ll finish second in the UPL this season and we’ll have a chance to qualify for the Champions League group stage. Maybe we’ll be able to sign newcomers, who’ll enforce our team, by that time.
- The contract of Serhiy Rebrov is about to expire. Will he stay if Dynamo win every game remaining this season?
- First of all I want the team to make headway and demonstrate worthy football. One can’t win all the time. After 3:4 defeat against Shakhtar I thanked every player. The game was really spectacular. The team did the best on the field. As I’ve said, if we demonstrate progress in this situation, Rebrov will stay.
Personally I want him to stay. I can tell you a secret: after defeat in Kropyvnytskyi Rebrov wanted to leave. I believe in our coach and I always did. He’s at the training complex 24/7. That’s what I like about him. If we give him a chance, he can become a great coach.
