Ihor SURKIS: “We must rely on patriots of our club”

- Agents say that Ihor Surkis understands football better than some scouts…

- I’m not competing. To answer your question I must know what they mean in particular.

- For example you can see player’s potential at a glance.

- I guess I wouldn’t have made so many mistakes if that was really so. Anyway I always started negotiations only after I got recommendations from scouts and head coach. Still that doesn’t guarantee absence of transfer failures.

For example, we spotted Roberto Nanni after he netted about 25 goals a season, but he didn’t adapt to Dynamo.

Transfer campaign, when we signed Aleksandar Dragovic, Dieumerci Mbokani, Jeremain Lens and Younes Belhanda, also looked like a failure at first as we finished fourth in domestic league, but later it turned out that they just needed a person able to unite them. Last spring Serhiy Rebrov took charge of the team and they approved themselves. Today leading European clubs are interested in our performers.

- You’ve mentioned that you’re personally looking for left back…

- I try to negotiate with candidates suggested by our scouts and head coach, but that’s not me who looks for potential newcomers. By the way, a lot of news one can see in the Internet as for our possible transfers are not more than rumors.

If we sign someone it will be great, if we don’t – we’ll be fine. Moreover, Yevhen Makarenko is recovering quicker than we expected. Besides we have Yevhen Selin, who should struggle for starting spot. Betao, Vida and Burda can also play as left back.

 - In first sparrings in Marbella Rebrov also used Vladyslav Kalytvyntsev as left back. How did he cope with this task in your opinion?

- Well, I can analyze his play only as ordinary fan.

- As informed ordinary fan…

- (Smiling) I think Vladyslav will always set ambitious goals. He has great future. I guess we should wait a bit. If he keeps working hard he’ll become outstanding player.

I really respect his father. We communicate rather often. Some fathers complain all the time if their sons don’t have regular starting spot, but as for Yuriy Kalytvyntsev, we’re on the same page.

He was self-critical when a player and now he has same attitude to Vladyslav. I like that.

- Betao was also supposed to be a claimant upon the position of left lateral, but in sparrings he plays as centre back. Besides it seems he hasn’t found common ground with teammates yet…

- That’s journalists and supporters, who thought that he would be a left back. Rebrov can have different point of view. As for his conditions, he’s missed about six months, so he needs adaptation. Anyway he must be able to help Dynamo when he takes the field.

- Lukman Haruna has stated that he’s looking for new club. They say OGC Nice are ready to pay three million euro for him.

- Haruna is a high profile player, but I guess he just doesn’t match the game model Rebrov has introduced. Still he’s not in Marbella due to microtrauma. But for that he would have had an opportunity to struggle for starting spot. If we get transfer offers we’ll discuss them.

- They used to say that Roman Bezus would play for Dnipro on loan for six months, but he’s signed a contract with Dnipropetrovsk side. Don’t you regret that he hasn’t approved himself in Dynamo?

- As you know, Oleh Blokhin insisted on transfers of Bezus and Selin. Still he didn’t actually believe in them.

There’s no doubt that Bezus is a good player. The thing is that he didn’t get much game practice.

I think it’s right to let our performers go in such situation. They should have an opportunity to work under the charge of good coaches, such as Viacheslav Hroznyi, for example.

I want to state that he’s a very good specialist. Working with him players make headway very quickly. That’s why I give him our youngsters eagerly. He can teach them how to reach their goals and give self-belief. Besides they get more game practice in FC Hoverla Uzhhorod.

For example, Serhiy Miakushko didn’t play even for Dynamo-2 regularly before his loan move to Hoverla, but in half a year he’ll be the main squad performer, believe me. The same can be said about Vitaliy Buialskyi and Maxym Koval!

I think Viacheslav Hroznyi is able to work with any team. He’s not afraid of difficulties.

- Anyway Hroznyi gives youth a chance not only because he wants that, but also because it’s a necessity for him. On the other hand Serhiy Rebrov gives youngsters game practice even though he has high profile performers, including foreigners. Do young players make a good impression on you?

- We’ll see how they’ll look in official matches, but their confidence in sparrings gladdens me. I think first of all we must rely on Ukrainian players, patriots of the club, who’ll stand with their hands over their hearts when the national anthem sounds.
