Ihor SURKIS: “We understood Vukojevic and let him go”

- Is it true that it took you less than 24 hours to come to agreement with Spartak?

- Actually Russian side representatives contacted us 3 or 4 days ago. After that I talked to Ognjen. He is a good player and decent person but at the moment he’s not the first team regular.

- Did Vukojevic agree to move to Moscow without hesitations?

- He wants to take the field regularly. His dream is to play for Croatia at the World Cup in Brazil. Besides Ognjen wants to prove Blokhin that he’s able to enforce Dynamo. Of course in summer Spartak will have a right to sign Vukojevic on the contract basis but we don’t know what may happen for sure. I respect Ognjen’s desire to play football and not just to get money sitting on the substitutes’ bench. Me and Oleh Blokhin wished Vukojevic good luck in Moscow.

- A transfer from Dynamo Kyiv to Spartak Moscow or vice versa is always an extraordinary phenomenon…

- Things have changed since Vladyslav Vashchuk left Dynamo for Spartak. I’m sure that Ognjen’s loan move to Red and Whites won’t be offensive to our supporters.

- Were there any other candidates willing to sign Vukojevic?

- No, there weren’t. Actually Spartak wanted to sign a contract with Vukojevic previous summer, but our ex-head coach Yuri Semin didn’t let him go. As I understood, Red and Blues lack a good holding midfielder at the moment.

- How much did Russians pay for Vukojevic?

- I won’t name figures but the sum is quite satisfactory for us.
