- What do you expect of Ukraine’s game against Moldova and of Dynamo players in particular?
- I hope the Ukrainian side will win. I’m proud of our players who defeated Poland in Warsaw. It’s a pleasure that two goals were scored by Dynamo representatives and one more by our alumnus Roman Zozulia. Now Ukraine must defeat Moldova to secure chances for World Cup qualification.
- How did Dynamo coaches get players ready for international games?
- Oleh Blokhin worked a lot with players. Six of them represent Dynamo in the national team and I’m sure this number will increase. That’s why people who consider Blokhin to be a “traitor” for leaving the national side are wrong. Every coach needs time for work.
- Do you mean the new Football Federation of Ukraine authorities?
- No, I mean some people in particular. These are the Football Federation vice president Serhiy Storozhenko and the member of FFU executive committee Viktor Mezheiko. They do nothing for football and only get money. Mezheiko was in charge of Zaporizhia football and you see the state of football in this region now. These people have no conscience. Storozhenko accused Blokhin of betrayal even despite coach’s illness. Money I invest into football play the least important role for me. Storozhenko and Mezheiko are people who just wait for salary from their master. And these people criticize me and Blokhin. Of course I can stand that, but Blokhin is a person who won the Golden ball. He won’t even respond them.
- Do the FFU authorities have some claims to Dynamo players?
- Are our players in bad physical conditions? They helped Ukraine defeat Poland. Of course victory is a merit of the whole team, but we know who scored goals in that game. Is Mykhailo Fomenko a bad coach? He is a great coach who worked for Dynamo and defeated Barcelona when no one could dream of that. As a president of the club, I’ll do whatever it takes to make the team play better.
- Are the problems with the national team’s accommodation at Dynamo training facility the result of the conflict between your club and FFU representatives?
- No, we just don’t have enough place for the national team at our training facility as now we’ve got the U-19 team. We discussed this problem with Anatoliy Konkov and decided that it would be better for the national team to stay at the hotel in Kozyn whish is really great. Players got ready for the game against Poland in a proper way so it was a right decision. As for those who call us “traitors” I have already responded them.
